Fuel Savings & Stronger Pull with Western Star 4900 Optimization
We recently optimized this Western Star 4900 – a true heavy-duty Class 8 truck that spends its days hauling serious loads and covering long distances. Powered by a high-torque diesel engine and built on a long, multi-axle chassis, this 4900 is designed to work hard every single day.
To help the truck run more efficiently and pull with more confidence, we carried out a precise, software-based ECU optimization. No hardware changes, no invasive modifications – just a clean recalibration of the engine control unit tailored to this specific Western Star 4900.
This truck is now better prepared for demanding work: hauling grain, equipment, or heavy trailers. With improved fueling and torque characteristics, it accelerates more smoothly, holds speed more easily under load, and uses less fuel during everyday operation.
What we adjusted:
- Fuel delivery mapping for more efficient combustion
- Torque curve calibration for stronger pull in the working RPM range
- Turbo pressure management for quicker response
- Throttle response for smoother acceleration
- Idle and part-load efficiency to cut down on wasted fuel
The result?
Lower fuel consumption, more usable power where the driver actually needs it, and a truck that feels more responsive on the road.
“Runs smoother, pulls harder, and doesn’t drink as much fuel as before.”
For fleets and owner-operators alike, that combination of fuel savings and stronger performance is exactly what makes an ECU upgrade from AgroEcoPower such a valuable investment.
